REPORTS

MAYORS REPORT, Mayor Vashus reports that we have still yet to receive the street paving funds. Bijou Telephone company has offered to donate funds to the town picnic in 2016.

WATER REPORT

2.1 Million gallons of water was pumped in August. Town Hall was struck by lightning and the surge burnt up the starter to the North well and the fire siren. When the starter to the well is being replaced, Randy recommended that the switches be upgraded as well.

PUBLIC COMMENTS

Residences inquired about the large hole in the side of the road on 5th Avenue. Discussion ensued about the rodeo parade route being on Second Avenue. Randy is considering having the bulk water pumped at the park instead of Town Hall due to some recent damage to the bulk water overhead pipes.

REPORTS

MAYORS REPORT, Mayor Vashus reports  the second of several Source Water Protection meetings was held on June 25th and a  third meeting will be held on Thursday, July 16th at 6pm. Code enforcements has sent out 60 first notices and 12 second notices. The town picnic was well attended with around 130 residence. Donations for the 4th of July come up to $1400 from 5 different sources. The Jockey Club is aware of the issues that the horse racing has caused and addressing each issue. The upcoming rodeo on Sunday, July 12th, there will be 5 police officers on patrol.

 

WATER REPORT

The water tank has been repaired and painted. GMS was called out to look at a possible leak where a sink hole was forming, no leak was found. 1.8 Millions of water was pumped last month and 1.7 million was sold, resulting in a 7.4% loss.

 

 

 

 

 

PUBLIC COMMENTS

Several streets around town are in need of repair. A resident inquired about the dip being repaired or having a culvert installed near Helen Cox’s home. Mayor Vashus will inquire about street sweeping with the county, as they have done this for the town in the past.

REPORTS

MAYORS REPORT, Mayor Vashus reports  the first of several Source Water Protection meetings was very informative. A second meeting will be held on Thursday, June 25th at 6pm. The Town of Deer Trail was granted $188,000 towards a street paving project from Arapahoe County. The town is currently being sprayed twice a week and mosquito donuts have been placed in standing water to help control the mosquito population. Mayor Vashus and his wife will attend the annual CML conference in Breckinridge this month. Water towers repairs and painting will begin on June 3rd.

PUBLIC COMMENTS

The town has completed the annual audit and should have a report soon. Concerned residents asked how the Jockey Club was going to handle the increase of traffic during the upcoming horse races. The town offered to sell our unused grader blades to Glen Kunkel.

REPORTS

MAYORS REPORT, Mayor Vashus reports clean-up day was a huge success. Another clean-up day has been scheduled for June and possibly a tire disposal later in the summer. The half of the towns lift station was cleaned and came in under budget. We will be holding a rabies and vaccination clinic in June for residents. The Town Hall computer had some issues and had to have an outside company do some remote repairs. The IREA contractors were kind enough to rewire the town warning siren correctly. Suzie Ellis, Code Enforcement, was at Town Hall for a full day. 

 

WATER REPORT

Randy was in attendance and gave the water report. Randy asked the town to allow him to use the monies that were set aside for the lift station cleaning to have cameras run in the sewer system. The state is requiring the town to have the hole in the top of water tower repaired. It was believed to have been damaged by a lightning strike.

 

 

 

PUBLIC COMMENTS

A resident asked what percent of the water/sewer taps from the new housing is applied towards grants and loans. Another resident inquired about the towns historical bell. The Mayor stated the bell is being stored in the garage bay and that the boards need to come to an agreement on where it should be displayed. Code enforcement was also questioned once again. Suzie Ellis was started and is building her database with the town ordinances before she can begin.
